Among the royal thickets, among the shadows that hide beneath the branches of a dead forest, a knight weeps.

His tears slide down his battered armor and his sorrow has driven away all creatures that still remained around him.

With fury he strikes the ground, making a dent in his crumpled gauntlets, and hurls his sword before the imposing abyss that presents itself before him.

The knight weeps because he has failed. He swore to give his life for a cause, for a dream, and for a love. All his strength and dedication were given to his ideals when proudly he told himself: “When the time comes, I will die within the glory that is reserved for my fate.”

War came and took everything he loved. He fought with all his strength until exhaustion completely overwhelmed him, until his bloodied sword weighed more than his own guilt, until the crow of a solitary rooster announced the dawn.

A precise strike… a well-directed arrow… a veil of darkness blinded his eyes.

The war was lost, but at least he had given everything to protect what he believed was important, and now he dies in peace.

However, death denied him its sweet touch, and fate laughed at him when he opened his eyes.

Before him stood his princess, the one he had sworn to love forever, the one he had given his life, his hopes, his heart.

There she was before his eyes, small, beautiful, with soft hair and sweet eyes fixed on him.

There was his beloved princess, lifeless, desecrated by an invincible enemy. Her white dress was stained with the blood and semen of some unknown stranger. Her cheeks bore the mark of tears that had flowed from her eyes. A dagger was lodged in her chest, once belonging to the lanky knight who now regrets being alive.

He went along the paths pleading with death to free him from pain, from suffering, from memory. But death is unkind and refused all his pleas.

In this forest, she is waiting for the end of this pain. She no longer cares, nothing, no one, she just wants to forget and stop suffering.
