How long has it been?

How long has it been since your lips no longer rest on mine?
How long has it been since your eyes no longer rest on me?
How long has it been since your voice no longer says my name?
How long has it been since you no longer have me in your future?

I look out the window and the reflection returns your face, I look at the horizon and I can’t see you. Next to me, the cold air invades the place that was rightfully yours and in my dreams, the most important part is always missing: You.

How long has it been since I last saw you?
How long has it been since with tears in my eyes you said goodbye to me?
How long has it been since the phone doesn’t ring with your voice?
How long has it been since I wake up thinking you won’t come back?

I walk through the empty streets that fill with strangers and none of them are you. I travel to the edges of thought searching for a word, a verse, a song that brings you back to me and I can’t find it. I long for the past when my dreams were flooded with your presence and all my hopes were summed up in seeing you smile.

How long has it been since I don’t travel kilometers just to see you?
How long has it been since we don’t lie to the world just to spend a night together?
How long has it been since my soul doesn’t feel the happiness of your smile?
How long has it been since your love isn’t for me?

I lift my face to the sky and I can’t hold back the tears. I close my hand and I get angry because between my fingers aren’t yours. I lose myself in madness, I laugh, I think, I cry, I scream and there’s nothing that’s really worth it.

You have left forever and I can’t make you come back. I have lost, I have lost everything I desired and longed for… I have lost you.
