-Are you sure about this?-

He hoped she would back out, that in the last moment she would ask him to stop and that they would go back home together...

Which home?... the bank was surely already emptying what was left of their home to pay the debts that had accumulated day by day until they became something impossible to pay.

-You made the promise- she answered -don't let me down now-

This was a very strange promise that he nevertheless accepted, as a man, as a husband, he was obligated to fulfill his promise despite how much he disliked what he was about to do.

He took out of his pocket the last bill he had in his possession, the last remnant of money from a jobless man and a jobless woman who had succumbed to yet another economic crisis that plagues a country in the third world. Poor victims of a society in which individuals are not valued for who they are, but for what they have.

Nervously, he paid the hotel bill and both of them ascended the stairs in search of the room where they would spend their last night.

As they crossed the threshold and carefully closed the door, they left the suitcase where they kept their last belongings. She asked for a moment to go into the bathroom while he, taking advantage of the opportunity, took a pen and began writing a farewell letter explaining the reasons that came to his mind and apologizing for all the mistakes he had made in the past.

When she came out of the bathroom, she saw him writing and asked for a few more moments to imitate him, writing a note explaining her final wish and how she had asked her husband to fulfill it.

He was sitting on the bed waiting for her to finish. With sadness, he watched her perfect silhouette being drawn in the mirror. A beautiful body that she had so often given to his deepest desires, taking him to that paradise only the wicked can know.

After finishing her note, she remained looking at him through the mirror and slowly, without taking her eyes off him with a seduction that only two souls who have gone through countless experiences together can achieve, she unbuttoned her blouse as the first step to slowly remove each piece of clothing from her body in a dance of glances that he watched with pleasure.

Feeling completely naked, she turned toward him and took the two steps that separated them, placing her tender chest over his mouth so that he could drink from her skin.

The hours passed and the light of the sun faded on the horizon, watching from the window two human bodies that loved each other endlessly.

The night unusually covered the city's sky with stars, and both embraced, watching the moon slowly approach the horizon.
The first hues that tint the skies blue and violet surprised them, making them make love once more... the hour had come.

-You still have a chance," he whispered in her ear while she shivered at the touch that slid down her arm and reached the height of her leg.

-Remember that all of this is my idea, only you can make my desire a reality, only you can give me the death I want.

The discussions about the thousands of possibilities that still remained had been extensive during the last week, and the options were closing in as the money ran out, friends drifted away, and institutions lurked like vultures that rise above their dying prey.

-Okay, but remember that I will follow you after.

They kissed one more time. He got up to look for the backpack and find what he needed. She also got up and walked behind him, placing her hand on his bare shoulder once he was within reach while he knelt down searching through the suitcase.

When she felt the contact of his cold hand, he turned violently and hit her on the left cheek. She fell onto her side, feeling a stream of blood trickle from her mouth to stain the carpet. "He will do it well," she thought, "And I will thank him for killing me in that way."

He grabbed her hair and pulled her up forcefully, then threw her against the bed. She screamed for a moment before a blow knocked out three of the teeth from her beautiful face, leaving her lip turned into a shapeless mass that began to swell.

She felt her husband's naked buttocks against her back while futilely trying to escape the bindings he was putting on her. In her hands and feet she felt the constant tingling caused by the bandages he had tied with ferocity.

A new blow, this time with a heavy object, made her back sound with a sharp crack when she tried to turn around. Immediately she felt a creak, surely a rib, and a slight pain that pierced with every gasp.
Shaking, she let out a cry of pain and pleasure when he penetrated her anus with a completely rigid member from his excitement. The blows did not stop falling on her head, back, and chest while he entered and exited her anus and vagina repeatedly.

"Don't kill me too quickly," she thought, unable to utter anything but moans, since now his hands were pressing on her throat, preventing her from breathing. She wanted to scream in pain, in pleasure, wanted to scream at him, "Give me more of this!"

His ears were buzzing and he felt his head like a big balloon about to explode when he released his neck. A rush of cold air passed through his throat and filled his lungs. The tears wouldn't stop flowing and the crying was uncontrollable. "I just hope that when she sees me like this she doesn't regret it... it has to end... he promised me that."

However now everything was still, and the buzzing in her ears would not fade nor let her know what he was doing.

Then she felt the bed tilt as he climbed back up. Blood returned to her hands and feet as he cut the bindings with a large kitchen knife that now hung from his hand. With no more strength left she turned to look at him, although the tears prevented her from seeing.

-No- she managed to stammer. -no please... don't stop...-

She couldn't continue speaking when she felt some soft lips press against the bloodied corner of her mouth. A tingling rose from her chest up to her throat and erupted into a new crying.

- I love you- he whispered.

She was gathering strength to answer him, to tell him that she loved him too and that she would be forever grateful for this when she realized there was something more, not only was it the tingling in her chest, but also a burning in her abdomen that was growing. He was fulfilling the last part of his promise.

Her husband sat up and spread her legs to penetrate her vagina once more with a member that had not lost its rigidity, slowly, while making the knife embedded in her navel descend, caressing her abdomen.

The pain became unbearable but she tried every way to resist screaming. She already felt warm blood surrounding her completely and forming a puddle on the bed.

The cut reached down to his pubis where it stopped. Without stopping his entry in and out of her vagina, he set the knife aside and, with great care, put his hand into the wound. With his fingers, he was moving between each of her bloodied organs, feeling the tissues breaking apart between the tips of his fingers that kept pushing and sinking into her body. He felt her ribs surrounding his forearm and the immense pressure of her lungs pressing his hand against the walls of her chest with every breath.

He kept struggling to push his hand in until, after piercing through a weak layer that seemed to be a delicate veil protecting the maiden waiting in bed for her first encounter with her new husband, he reached his target.

He lightly brushed against that mass of flesh and felt it pulse. How fragile it was! How delicate and beautiful her heart was! He gave it a tender caress and, once he wrapped his fingers around it, he realized how small it was.

This heart had given him so much happiness in the last few years, so much joy, so many illusions... He didn't stop crying as he squeezed her hand and felt the flesh slipping between his fingers that wouldn't stop squeezing. The heartbeat stopped, although she still continued to convulse, getting weaker each time.

She wasn't looking at him; her back arched from her hips to her neck, making him look at some point on the ceiling. Nevertheless, he noticed a beautiful gleam in her eyes, for a moment they seemed like crystal, just before the last spasm gave way to silence and to death.

Someone knocked on the door:

-Is everything alright in there? - Someone said with an annoyed tone, as if they had been waiting for an answer for some time.

He pulled his hand out of her, still holding remnants of her heart between his fingers, and caressed that chestnut hair whose scent made him go crazy, leaving an unnoticed red stain in the process.

-Don't get too far, little one, I'll be with you soon - he whispered between tears while tenderly kissing her forehead.

The knocks on the door became more insistent, now it seemed as if they were trying to break down the door.

He looked toward the window and stood up. It was a shame that from this side of the building he couldn't watch the sunrise, he really would have liked to see the sun for the last time.

The creak of the door as it opened was the signal to launch the attack on the window. He heard the glass shatter around him and felt the sharp points tear through the skin of his face and head. One of the edges pierced his right eye while another split one of his ears in half.

He didn't have much time to think about the pain as he fell the few short floors separating him from the ground. Soon he felt the impact that severed his neck and split his skull into thousands of splinters.

He didn't move again as he watched the blood cover the sidewalk in front of his eyes.

Someone was running toward him, but surely they would arrive too late, for as they drew closer, the world dissolved into darkness, becoming a single bright point in the distance, as if it were the exit of a dark and narrow tunnel.

Soon the world he knew was so far away that it was impossible to see its light. Around him only darkness and death remained.
