  "body": "I've been thinking about voluntary disarmament campaigns and I really believe they are harmful.<br><br>In the United States these campaigns are common and, far from reducing violence, their main effect is a cleansing of the arms market.<br><br>Disarmament campaigns remove used guns out of circulation that could otherwise be sold or given person-to-person, thus increasing the need to acquire new guns, and, during the year following the campaign, gun shops will register a moderate increase in sales.<br><br>In Mexico most guns come from illegal trafficking, so disarmament campaigns have a positive effect on organized crime, which imports illegal weapons to replace those destroyed in disarmament campaigns and thereby increasing their profits.<br><br> <br>\n\n<div>\n\n\n\n</div>\n\n<br>\n"
